How Long To Cool Brownies?

In my series of brownie questions, one of the top questions was, “How Long To Cool Brownies?”.

Brownies should cool for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour to set properly. Here's the breakdown, based on the type of brownies you’re intending to make:

  1. Fudgy Brownies: Let them cool about an hour if you want clean, defined slices (sometimes, depending on your room’s temperature, it can take even longer). Cutting them too soon can lead to a gooey mess (unless you're into that).

  2. Chewy or Cakey Brownies: These can often be sliced after about 30–40 minutes of cooling.

If you’re in a rush, you could technically pop the pan in the fridge for about 20 minutes to speed things up. Just make sure the pan isn’t too hot since it could both mess with your fridge’s temperature and potentially set the brownies unevenly (cooling too quickly can tighten things up). Cooling at room temperature is definitely worth the wait, so just allocate enough time for this method!
