Can Cookies Be Frozen? The Practical Guide to Freezing Cookies
In my series of cookie questions, another one of the top questions was, “Can Cookies Be Frozen?”.
Let's talk about a kitchen hack that can change the way you enjoy cookies: freezing. Freezing cookies is a straightforward method to extend their shelf life and maintain their freshness. Here's how to do it:
Allow your freshly baked cookies to cool completely at room temperature.
Arrange the cookies in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about an hour, or until the cookies are firm.
Transfer the frozen cookies to a resealable plastic bag or airtight container. Label the container with the date and type of cookies. Bonus points: cut up the parchment into strips to wrap around the cookies before placing them in the bags or container- this helps to ward off ice crystals and that freezer burn taste.
Store the cookies in the freezer for up to three months.
When you're ready to enjoy your frozen cookies, remove them from the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature for about 15-30 minutes. You can also reheat them in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for a few minutes for a freshly baked taste.
Freezing cookies is a practical way to have your favorite treats on hand whenever you want them. So, the next time you bake a batch of cookies, consider freezing some for later. It's a simple trick that can make your cookie-loving heart happy.
