Season 2 Bonus Episode: The Best Pizza In NY, According To An Italian

In this bonus episode, I go to my guest from Episode 1, Birthh's, favorite pizza shop. Birthh loves L'industrie, with locations in the West Village of Manhattan, and Williamsburg, Brooklyn. And she's from Italy, so, this is definitely a place I had to check out. Have you tried L'industrie, and what do you think?

I visited L’industrie’s West Village location, on a Monday federal holiday, and a line started to form before opening (they open at 12pm, I got their around 11:50am and there were about 10 people in line, and started to quickly grow- nothing out of control, but, the line is there). But don’t worry, the line moves quickly, they have all hands on deck there churning out pizza after pizza for both pickup orders and in-store diners.

Now, seating is limited here and it’s not a spacious area, so, mentally prepare for the possibility of taking your pizza on the to (there’s a park just a couple blocks away, and the piers a few block west, on a nice day). However, if you do grab a spot, they’re playing good tunes and, with an open kitchen, you get a fun show too.

Let’s talk pizza. If you’re looking for the style and quality of pizza that you’re getting in Italy, here you go! You really taste the fresh ingredients, and it’s thoughtfully done, meaning, just the right amount of everything- not excessive, not too little (the Goldilocks effect). The crust/base is light and airy, and you can have one slice and feel happy, or have 2 slices and feel satisfied and not stuffed. No grease dripping, just a lovely balanced slice of pizza. I got the burrata slice, with 2.5 fresh dollops of burrata spaced apart on the large slice. It was flavorful, creamy, and with the fresh basil leaves, really a lovely bite.

They also had a gorgeous little pastry case, and if I wasn’t here on a mission to make a video about trying their pizza, I would have definitely tried a bombolone and olive oil cake. Next time!
