Season 2 Bonus Episode: This Restaurant Is What Life's All About

In this bonus episode, I go to my guest from Episode 7, Mal Sounds', favorite childhood restaurant. Mal loves Tom's Restaurant in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. And he claims that his regular order is what life's all about. Have you tried Tom's Restaurant, and what do you think?

If I lived closer to Tom’s Restaurant, this would 100% be the type of place that I would make my regular hangout spot. It truly feels like an institution, a staple in the neighborhood that’s been there forever. On a Monday for lunch, the restaurant was full, even when natural foot traffic wasn’t that high around the area, proving that people are intentionally coming in. Staff was warm and friendly, and you just feel like family when you’re there (sorry, Olive Garden).

I ordered the Lemon Ricotta pancakes and a Cherry Lime Rickey and was so delighted. I’m never one to order soda, much less something like this, but, it was recommended, and I’d never had one, so I had to experience it! I was pleasantly surprised that it was not that sweet, and very refreshing. The pancakes here are a real staple, with lots of different varieties to choose from. You get 3 extra large pancakes that are just about the fluffiest things you’ve ever seen. Even though they look large, they’re so light that you can finish them all! Or, order them for the table and choose another dish from the savory items like sandwiches, omelettes, and other breakfast and lunch staples.

If it’s helpful, just know that they’re cash only, so, make sure to have cash on you. But, if not, they do have an ATM machine inside the restaurant (just not sure what the fees are, so, bring cash to be safe).
