Season 1 Episode 12: The Boiis Co
We're chatting with Kert Lasdoce of The Boiis Co to bake up their ube mochi filled matcha Mooks, hold a squishy mochi baby, and campaign for a collaboration with Flavor Flav.
If you haven’t heard of a Mook before, that’s because The Boiis Co created it! Their newest addition to their Filipino bakery’s product line was built during the pandemic as an item that was fun, shippable, and delicious (the rest is history). I’ve had mochi, matcha, and ube, but never all together as a cookie, so I was excited to get to make these Mooks with Kert, who was an excellent and enthusiastic teacher!
These little Mooks are not to be slept on! They’re an excellent balance of flavor and texture combinations, and, as Kert puts it correctly, not too sweet. You can find The Boiis Co in local shops and grocers in NYC, at their pop-ups, and, if you’re not in NYC, they ship nationwide!
