Are Brownies Cookies?
In my series of brownie questions, one of the top questions was, “Are Brownies Cookies?”.
Brownies aren’t cookies, but they’re definitely in the same baked goods family. Cookies, for the most part, are baked as individual portions, while brownies are more of a “let’s bake the whole thing and slice it up later” vibe. Texture-wise, cookies are usually firm and crisp or chewy, while brownies bring the gooey, fudgy, or cakey consistency.
Technically, brownies are considered “bar cookies,” so they’re kind of like cookies- same dessert table, slightly different energy. Now, if you’re looking for a hybrid, a brookie is going to be your baked good! It’s a brownie base with with cookie dough scatter and baked throughout, sliced up the same as a brownie.
