Are Cake Donuts Fried? The Truth About Cake Donuts
In my series of cake questions, the first of one of the top questions was, “Are Cake Donuts Fried?”.
Donuts (or doughnuts, if you’re fancy), are one of my most favorite desserts. I especially love a cake donut, but, you don’t always see them at every donut shop. That may be because they’re made differently, which, isn’t always the most streamline for high volume shops.
Cake donuts, known for their dense texture, are made from a thick batter, that usually requires refrigeration before punching out. Unlike yeast donuts, which are light and airy, cake donuts are more substantial.
To make cake donuts, the batter is shaped into rings and then fried. This frying process gives them a crispy exterior and a moist interior.
Once fried, cake donuts can be topped with various coatings like glaze, powdered sugar, or sprinkles.
