Which Cake Mixes Are Vegan? Plants Only, Please
In my series of cake questions, another one of the top questions was, “Which Cake Mixes Are Vegan?”.
Many cake mixes can be made vegan-friendly with a few simple substitutions, such as using plant-based milk (such as almond, soy, or oat milk) instead of dairy milk, and using a vegan egg replacer or applesauce instead of eggs. Some examples of vegan-friendly mixes that can be adjusted to a vegan recipe:
Duncan Hines: Duncan Hines offers several flavors of cake mixes, including Classic Yellow, Devil's Food, and Dark Chocolate Fudge.
Simple Mills: Simple Mills offers a range of organic and gluten-free baking mixes, including vanilla and chocolate cake mixes that are vegan-friendly.
Betty Crocker: Betty Crocker offers several cake mixes, including Super Moist French Vanilla and Super Moist Chocolate.
King Arthur Flour: King Arthur Flour offers a gluten-free and vegan chocolate cake mix that is made with simple, wholesome ingredients.
However, if you're looking for cake mixes that are specifically labeled as vegan and require no modifications, you can check out my friends Renewal Mill (they sell online and in Whole Foods, etc.).
When shopping for vegan cake mixes, be sure to check the ingredients list to ensure that they meet your dietary requirements.
