Are Brownies A Pastry?
In my series of brownie questions, one of the top questions was, “Are Brownies A Pastry?”.
So, here’s the deal- pastries are more about flaky, buttery dough—think croissants, danishes, and tarts. They’re made from dough that's carefully crafted to give you those delicate, tender layers. Brownies, on the other hand, are more considered a baked good, right alongside cookies and bars. They’re made with a batter, not dough, and there’s no rolling, laminating, or fancy folding involved- just mix, pour, and bake.
So, while brownies might show up in pastry shops now and then (because, let’s be honest, they’re amazing), they don’t technically qualify as pastries. But hey, we often see lots of these baked goods lumped into one category, so, it just depends how high-brow or technical you want to get!
